Melissa Mellon, M.A., LMFT

CA License LMFT #40670

I have been a therapist for 15 years and knew as a child that this is exactly what I wanted to do.  I completed my B.A. at the University of Redlands and then moved to Orange County to work on my M.A. at Chapman University.  I have spent the majority of my career working with children, teens, and families, but I have always loved working with individuals and couples.

I am a strength based therapist and although I adapt my style to meet the specific needs of each client that I work with, I tend to think about life and problems from a narrative perspective.  I believe that life can be beautiful and challenging, and the story that we tell ourselves about what has happened to us can expand or restrict our lives and possibilities.  I believe that each of us has the knowledge and ability to create the life that we desire.  Sometimes we just need some support and guidance in that process.

In my work with children and families, I believe that whether the family has been created through birth, foster, or adoption, developing attachment, connection, and unconditional love is paramount to creating a healthy and loving home.   I work closely with children, teens, and caregivers to develop communication skills and interactions that make the home safe and comfortable for all.

I understand how important it is to feel comfortable and compatible with your therapist.  Feel free to contact me for a consultation to see if we would be a good fit for your therapy journey.
